FOOD AID BAGS

Between May 21, 2020 and September 11, 2021, we have carried out the Food Aid plan where we have made 32 deliveries with a total of 1,075 bags of different sizes, assembled according to the number of family members and distinguishing foods for celiac patients. and vegetarian and including feminine hygiene products and organic diapers. We have also tried to generate work for colleagues by contracting the freight service for the delivery of the bags and the purchase of products from reinvented tangueres.

This action required a great human and logistical effort that was carried out in a totally self-managed and supportive manner by the TTD (without any state support), but with the great support of the local and international community that helped us both with financial contributions. , with products made by themselves or with physical help for the purchase, assembly and delivery of the bags. That is why on behalf of the entire TTD team we want to thank you deeply!

TALKS AND TRAINING

Various activities aimed to acquire and develop knowledge and tools that complement our activity and contribute to the development of our community. The ones we have organized so far are:

Before the pandemic, training was carried out in person. Currently and until conditions are met again, we are doing them via Zoom and streaming, so that everyone can access them.

ELEVATE THE TANGO

During the month of December 2020, in the context of a pandemic and deep crisis in our sector due to several months of decline and even the impossibility of working, we organized an international online event: “Eleven al tango”.

It was an online event of classes and shows between December 1 and 11 where 80 professionals participated who were chosen through calls open to the community; 60 theoretical and practical classes of tango and complementary disciplines were taught. More than 250 students from all over Argentina and the world participated in this unprecedented 11-day cycle. We concluded the event with an online meeting where there was a talk, live music, two exhibitions of dancers and six musicians presenting tandas of both traditional and 21st century tango.

The novelty of this event was that the students registered for a solidarity value that allowed them to access 3 classes that were chosen according to the title and without knowing which teacher would teach it; which allowed the students to learn about the work of different teachers. Furthermore, thanks to the number of registrations received, we were able to award the same number of scholarships to those who wanted to participate, but did not have the financial means to do so. We made Eleven together and for everyone!

Through consultations with the tango community, the problem of the lack of opportunities for independent tango dance companies to present their works arose. For this reason, during the month of September 2019 we organized and produced cooperatively with them and the Espacio Sísmico club/theater the cycle of short works called “Plácidos Domingos”. Through an open call, ten companies and performing arts proposals (that used tango as their main language) were chosen and were able to disseminate their creations.

The objectives of the cycle were to spread tango dance; generate work spaces for new artistic groups; that debut works can be presented alongside the most experienced companies and thus cause a transgenerational exchange and promote the formation of the public.

PLÁCIDOS DOMINGOS CYCLE

BAILONGOS

In 2018 and 2019 we organized two mu-ti-tu-di-na-rias milongas! More than 500 colleagues, milongueres and friends attended. They were a real party in which we could tell what we had been doing. Also, these events allowed us to raise funds to self-finance the legal status procedures and the actions we carry out for the community.
